Here’s a list of a few fresh faces that impressed us in some way musically last year, that we think you’ll be seeing great things from this year…

Frank Sativa
In the ever-growing underground “bedroom pop” space, Frank Sativa is one of the highlights. His simplistic aesthetic allows for easy listening, but every song has enough texture and character to easily compete with some of todays top hit-makers. He has been one of our favourite new artists for a little while now, and one you should definitely check out if you like artists like Steve Lacy, Rex Orange County, etc.

Montell Fish
Following his two projects released in 2022, “JAMIE” & “Her Love Still Haunts Me Like a Ghost”, there is no doubt that Montell is destined for stardom. His eerie approach to every song creates a super distinct presence that not many artists have. Although his music can have a dark or mysterious feeling, he still manages to create some of the most beautiful music I’ve heard in recent memory, and we cannot wait to see where he goes next.

skaiwater
After receiving praise and co-signs from big artists like Lil Nas X, Lil Uzi Vert, and more, skaiwater has only been on an upward trajectory for a little while now. He produces as well as raps/sings, and his mixture of indie pop, jersey club and electronic music creates a style unlike any other, so we hope his music continues to reach the right audiences this year!

SURF GANG
This rap collective has been killing it in the underground for quite a while now, consisting of members such as Pasto Flocco, Polo Perks, Moh Baretta, Caspr, and more. Their releases are always consistent, and very entertaining. Undoubtedly one of the best groups out right now, I can only see the best in the future for these guys.

Bktherula
Bk has been leading the charge in the female underground rap scene for years, and she has become not only one of the most entertaining female rap acts, but one of the most entertaining in general. With her “LVL5” project on the horizon, we’re expecting a big year for her, and can’t wait to see where she goes.
