While the project remains somewhat bloated, Lunchtime is an incredible step in the right direction for the forward-thinking artist that is Lunchbox. Each track contains a certain amount of exciting energy that carries into the next, allowing for the listener to be entertained throughout the whole listen. Sure, “New Jazz” can get repetitive as a genre, but the one doing it best – and with the most variety – is undoubtedly Lunchbox. The tape expands his sound way beyond just “New Jazz” too. Specific tracks I have been enjoying have been “Changin”, “Narnia” and “Take Me Out”. The Neptunes-style production on “Bitch Plz” was such a pleasant and welcomed surprise as well, and was a great way to finish the project. I’ll definitely be keeping this one in the playlist for a while, and I’m awfully interested to see where Lunch goes next.
