TAGABOW Profile

“They Are Gutting a Body of Water,” is one of the best modern shoegaze bands emerging from Pennsylvania. Ever since I stumbled upon their second album, ‘Destiny XL,’ I’ve been eager to delve into more of their discography. They embody many of the quintessential elements of a great shoegaze band: subdued vocals intertwined with warbly, fuzzy guitars, and thunderous drums. However, what truly sets them apart, in my opinion, is their innovative sound design. It’s both creative and intriguing, and they fearlessly embrace experimentation.

The band has been extensively touring, performing shows in unconventional venues like backyards, skate shop parking lots, and even inside convenience stores, often with their backs turned to the crowd. Their promotion tactics are equally unconventional, utilizing various styles of artwork that make them stand out even more. In conclusion, They Are Gutting a Body of Water is admirable for their willingness to experiment, a trait I find essential in modern shoegaze bands.
